Sue Kanoho was promoted to Managing Director/Island Chapters in January 2024, which included the Kaua'i Visitors Bureau, O'ahu Visitors Bureau, Maui Visitors and Convention Bureau, and Island of Hawai'i Visitors Bureau.
Kanoho, who continued as Executive Director of the Kaua'i Visitors Bureau, oversaw the Island Chapters, a division of the Hawai'i Visitors and Convention Bureau, working with the Hawai'i Tourism Authority, County and State officials, and departments.
Kanoho was responsible for the Island Destination Brand Management and Marketing Services contract, including leading the development and execution of the Island Chapter strategies. The Island Chapters focused on HTA's on-island support, HTA's International Global Marketing Team familiarization visits, media, travel trade education and missions, promotion of Native Hawaiian values, and traveling with care.
Sue Kanoho was Executive Director of the Kaua'i Visitors Bureau for 29 years and was charged with overseeing the marketing, as well as management, of Kaua'i as a visitor destination.
Sue's work included advertising, public relations, film/TV productions, travel trade promotions, and community efforts toward improving the Kaua'i Destination Management Action Plan (DMAP).
With a focus on community engagement, Sue Kanoho served on the boards of many community-based organizations, including the Kaua'i Chamber of Commerce, Kaua'i Economic Development Board, Royal Coconut Coast Association, President of the Visitor Aloha Society of Kaua'i, and the Zonta Club of Kaua'i.
Sue Kanoho remains active in the Royal Coconut Coast Association and Zonta Club of Kaua'i.
Sue Kanoho was honored to receive the Duke's Kaua'i Ambassador of Aloha Award on March 28, 2026, acknowledging her decades of service to the island of Kaua'i.
